Requirements:

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
• Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Criminal record check required

Work Setting:

• Restaurant

Job Duties:

• Determine the size of food portions and estimate food requirements and costs
• Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes
• Plan menus and requisition food and kitchen supplies
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
• Inspect kitchens and food service areas
• Train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking, and safe food handling
• Supervise kitchen helpers and support staff
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
• Manage day-to-day kitchen operations
